10 Ways to Come Up With Awesome Blog Ideas

However effective blogging is in reaching your audience, it can also be somewhat repetitive if you take a poor approach. How do you keep coming up with new blog ideas that continuously keep your readers engaged? Today, we’ll cover the top 10 things that we do.

10. Come up with goals.

What do you want to accomplish with your blog series? Is there a main product or service that you want to emphasize more than another? If your series has direction from the beginning, it’s easier to maintain it throughout.

9. Mix it up.

Don’t always do informative blogs and never entertaining blogs or vice versa. Obviously some subjects are more serious than others (taxes are a little hard to make fun), but with the right approach, anything can work!

8. Get ideas from other bloggers.

Don’t take any content, but some bloggers have great ideas/directions.

7. Research the subject.

If you’re blogging about something that you don’t know that much about, the internet is a great resource. Just be careful that the sources are reliable!

6. Blog abut complementary or substitute products.

Blogging about complementary products can increase your sales dramatically. For example, if you’re a ketchup company, you should blog about hot dogs – a complementary product – in order to boost your own sales. If blogging about a substitute product, your approach would most likely rather be an effort to set yours above theirs.

5. Story time.

Talk about something that either happened to you or an anecdote of sorts that shares the benefits of a product. We’ve done this for many clients and we’ve had a great reception from the readers!

4. Look at your product from the view of the consumer.

Obviously as the producer, you have a very biased view. Try to see what they see. What do they want, what are they looking for in this type of product, etc.

3. Don’t be afraid to try new things.

Branch out a little bit! Maybe do a Q&A with a coworker, reference a video you saw, anything that keeps them wanting to read.

2. Read the reviews of your readers.

Take lessons from the blogs that you’ve written in the past and adjust your plans based on that!

1. Collaborate.

Above all else, the absolute best way to come up with ideas on what to blog about is to collaborate with 3 to 4 other people and just bounce ideas off one another. Four minds working together will come up with more than you’d ever imagine alone.
