1. Views are good, customers are better

Let’s say that you have an established blog that gets a good number of views. Everything is going well except for one major issue – you aren’t getting any more customers. While getting readers to your site is a good first step, actually gaining customers is the end goal. One sure way to gain more customers is to be content oriented. Without quality content in your blogs, you can’t expect to be gaining more customers. Focus on what information your readers want to know and provide it for them.

2. Upgrade your layout

Most people today are visual learners. With how many ads and visual messages we see in one day, the only things we will remember are those that we find pleasant and interesting. In order to convert readers into customers, you need to have a layout that is easy to understand and interesting to read. Without interest, there is little chance readers will want to commit.

3. Where else can they click?

Don’t get confused by this – you don’t want to bombard your readers with popup ads and overwhelming options that can just be distracting. However, go ahead and include some helpful links that will prove to be advantageous for the reader. The more information and help you can provide, the more likely the reader will want to hire you.

4. Integrate your social media outlets

Social media is booming. I once worked an event in San Angelo, TX that allowed people to experience a mobile replication of third world poverty. Turns out, almost 95% of people that attended that event had heard of it on Facebook and decided to come. Social media is the #1 way to get news about your blog and business out there. Integrate your social media outlets into your blog and you are sure to gain more interest with readers, leading to more clients.

5. Include Testimonials

When people are deciding whether or not to make a purchase, one of the first things they look is at is reviews. They want to know whether or not other people are happy with the purchase they made. The same can be said with services. Whatever your business, readers will always want to know whether or not others have been satisfied. Include quotes and testimonials on your page to ensure that readers know how satisfied your customers are.

6. Format for all types of readers

There isn’t just one type of reader that will be viewing your blog. You need to plan for all types of readers – skim readers, in-depth readers, non-interested readers, and urgent readers. You want to make it easy for people to skim (shorter paragraphs, bullet points, etc.) while also providing enough information for people that really want to know what’s going on. Don’t expect everyone to read your blog the same way – but format your site so everyone can be happy.

7. Know your audience

Without a specific target audience, how are you supposed to know how to adapt to your readers? Create a specific audience you want to write to and provide them with the information they need to make a sure commitment. When you know your audience, you should know what it takes to finally convert them from just casual readers to committed customers.
